The country needs a government that provides stability, transparency of accountability, personal credibility and honesty; recognising financial growth is not a foregone conclusion. Labour shamlessly exploited relationships with the business community and has been discredited in failing to enforce structures keep Britain financially solvent. Attempts by Labour Party leaders to create a LibLab pact have failed in the past. The electorate has emphatically rejected old politics and the apparent success in the televised leaders’ debates shows we still prefer substance over style. If we are to contribute to positive and constructive re-alignment the first step is to engage in demonstrating we care, we can make a difference and we engage in positive dialogue seeking first to understand and then challenge the status quo.

I wonder if Cyril and I are on the same planet. The financial problems are worldwide and as all around the world accept Gordon saved the world from melt down. But how Cyril can believe that the televised debates demonstrate that we prefer substance over style is obtuse. Those presidential debates proved that style over substance won out. Brown cut a sorry figure with his jowly cheeks, portly stomarch and vision problems compared to the slim, youthful and cleancut opponents. If you recall Brown was critcised for quoting facts and figure in the first debate whereas Cameroon and Clegg had wish lists of motherhood and apple pie. Of the whole campaign those vacuous debates will damage our democracy in the long run because political partys can now only be lead by media acceptable people.
